🎪 Cromer Carnival's Big Day, Live Music + More This Week

Hello Norfolk explorers 👋 We hope you were able to get out and enjoy the eclipse. We had a picnic at St. Benet’s Abbey and watched it from there (see photo above). If you missed it, the next chance comes on 2 August 2027, but it won't be as big. The UK won't see one this size again until 2030. Between the eclipse and everything else, it's been a full week around here. We were invited to a popup Beef and Burgundy dinner at Raynham Estate (only on through 20 August), took a Bishy Barney Boat down the River Wensum, and went on a mystery tour of Norwich that kept us guessing until the last stop. Now it's your turn. There's plenty to fill the diary before the bank holiday, from Cromer Carnival's big day today to a music-filled weekend at Rock n Roll Circus and MuttonStock, plus family days out at Sea Palling and Sheringham. Here's what else is happening across Norfolk this week ⬇️ ✨ What's Happening Around Norfolk This Week?🎪 Cromer Carnival (15–21 August) Today’s the big day with the Red Arrows expected to put on a show and the grand parade through town. This year’s planned fireworks finale has been cancelled due to increased fire risk, but the funfair, arena shows and stalls carry on through to Friday. Get more information here. 🎸 Rock n Roll Circus (20–23 August) Four days of live music under the Big Top at Earlham Park, with James, The Streets, The Kooks and Madness headlining across the weekend, alongside acrobatics, fire shows and circus workshops. Under 5s go free. Get more information here. 🍺 MuttonStock (21–23 August) Three days of live music at The Shoulder of Mutton in Strumpshaw, with more than 20 ales and a handful of ciders to try. Entry is free, and camping is available for anyone making a full weekend of it. Get more information here. 🚤 Sea Palling Lifeboat Day (23 August) The Independent Lifeboat’s annual fundraising day brings games, lifeboat displays and refreshments to the beach, a good family day out supporting the volunteers who keep this stretch of coast safe. Get more information here. 🏖️ Sheringham Beach Life (24–27 August) Four free mornings of activities for children and teens at The Leas to see out the summer holidays, from songs and drama to the legendary gunge tank, with different age groups catered for throughout. Get more information here. 🎭 Cromer Pier Show (27 June – 19 September) The world’s only full-season end-of-pier show carries on at the Pavilion Theatre, with singing, dancing, comedy and a rotating cast of guest acts running through to mid-September. Get more information here. 🎡 Summer Circus & Water Spectacular (8 July – 13 September) International circus acts perform at Britain’s last surviving standalone circus building in Great Yarmouth, building to a finale where the whole stage sinks into a pool for a synchronised swimming display. Get more information here. 🎨 Raveningham Sculpture Trail (15 July – 6 September, Wed–Sun) Now in its 13th year, this outdoor trail spreads 60 artists’ work across three acres of meadow, garden and woodland, with this year’s theme of Ritual. Get more information here. 🖼️ Fakenham Arts Festival (1–30 August) Fakenham’s month-long celebration of creativity continues, with a free family art trail through the town centre and biographical arts films on Frida Kahlo, Caravaggio, and Turner and Constable showing on Tuesday evenings. Hello Norfolk explorers 👋 The August Bank Holiday weekend is nearly here, and it's shaping up to be a busy one across Norfolk. Last week we made it to Cromer Carnival to catch the Red Arrows fly past (pictured above), which never gets old no matter how many times we've seen it.
