Hello Norfolk explorers ๐ Hopefully you've managed to squeeze in a Heritage Open Days event or two yourself this week. It's been a treat seeing doors across Norfolk swing open that are normally kept firmly shut. This week we got behind three of those doors ourselves. At St Peter Mancroft, we got into the sacristy, a room that's not normally open to the public. At Earlham Hall (pictured above), now home to the UEA Law School, we had a rare look around a building the public can't usually enter at all. We also dropped into the Strangers' Club on Elm Hill, a private members' club house in a building with roots going back to the Paston family in the 1480s. All three were well worth doing and gave us the chance to see parts of Norfolk we wouldn't normally get to see. There are still plenty of doors to open across Norfolk over the next few days, plus the 1940s Weekend in Sheringham and Holt and the final week of the Cromer Pier Show. Hello Norfolk explorers ๐ You've probably noticed it's getting dark earlier, but that doesn't have to mean staying in. We hope you caught the incredible show from Mother Nature on Saturday night. We went out to Ranworth to see the northern lights over Malthouse Broad (pictured above) and the ruins of Panxworth Church (watch a short timelapse video here). We have a feeling there will be more aurora soon, so check out our post on chasing the northern lights in Norfolk to be prepared. We...
Hello Norfolk explorers ๐ Happy October! This is one of those quieter weeks in Norfolk, which might be exactly what you need. Think gentle walks, long lunches and catching up with friends, plus a chance to visit some of your favourite attractions before their winter hours begin. It was Russell's birthday weekend, so we kept things simple with a short but scenic 1.5-mile walk at Taverham Mill, where we spotted Highland cattle (pictured above)! We're not sure how much longer they'll be there,...
