Hello Norfolk explorers π It's set to be another scorcher across Norfolk this week, the kind of heat that has everyone heading for the coast by mid afternoon (pictured above at Holme-next-the-Sea, a favourite for beach time when it's this warm). Tonight also brings something unusual. A partial solar eclipse will be visible across the county from around 6:15pm, with the Sun close to 90% covered at its peak just after 7pm. Find a spot with a clear view to the west if you can, and please don't look directly at the Sun without proper eclipse glasses. Closer to home, Cromer Carnival gets underway this week building to its big parade on Wednesday 19 August. Fingers crossed the RAF Red Arrows make it back in time to fly over, they're still on the bill, but their return from North America has been delayed by bad weather in Canada. There's also oyster feasting at Brancaster, tanks on display at Forncett St Peter, and plenty more to fill the diary. Here's what else is happening across Norfolk this week β¬οΈ β¨ What's Happening Around Norfolk This Week?πͺ Cromer Carnival (15β21 August) One of the largest carnivals in the country and a highlight of the North Norfolk summer, building all week to the grand parade through town on Wednesday 19 August, with fireworks the following evening. Get more information here. π¦ͺ Brancaster White Horse Oyster Festival (12β16 August) Five days of oyster celebrations in a marquee overlooking the tidal marsh and Scolt Head Island, with local sparkling wine and live music. Get more information here. πΆ Suffield Summer Fiesta (14β16 August) Three days of genre-spanning music in the garden of The Suffield Arms in Gunton, from dub and post-punk to country and surf. Easy to reach by train, the station sits right opposite the pub. Get more information here. πΊ Wildcraft Brewery 10th Birthday Bash (14β15 August) A weekend of live music, DJ sets, and street food marking the brewery's 10th anniversary, with under 16s free and camping on site. Proceeds support the Hamlet Charity. Get more information here. πͺ Armourfest (15β16 August) Two days of tanks and armoured vehicles in the arena at the Norfolk Tank Museum, with re-enactors, vehicle rides, and a 1940s hangar dance on Saturday evening. Get more information here. π Afri-Fest East (15 August) The largest Afrocentric summer event in East Anglia, with live music, dance, and food celebrating African culture at Chapelfield Gardens. Kids go free. Get more information here. ποΈ Ink and Engines Fest (15β16 August) Norfolk's biggest tattoo convention and car show, with live tattooing, show cars and bikes, and live music at the Norfolk Showground. Get more information here. π³ Treehouse Festival (10β15 August) A small, week-long residential gathering in Mid Norfolk built around traditional crafts like blacksmithing and green woodworking, with only 100 tickets available and all meals included. Get more information here. π Cromer Pier Show (27 June β 19 September) The only full-season end-of-pier show in the world, running at the Pavilion Theatre with singing, dancing, comedy, and rotating guest acts through the summer. Get more information here. π‘ Summer Circus & Water Spectacular (8 July β 13 September) International circus acts at Britain's last surviving standalone circus building in Great Yarmouth, with a stage that sinks into a pool for a synchronised swimming finale. Get more information here. π¨ Raveningham Sculpture Trail (15 July β 6 September) An outdoor sculpture exhibition across three acres of meadows, gardens, and woodland, now in its 13th year with 60 artists exploring this year's theme of Ritual. Hello Norfolk explorers π The August Bank Holiday weekend is nearly here, and it's shaping up to be a busy one across Norfolk. Last week we made it to Cromer Carnival to catch the Red Arrows fly past (pictured above), which never gets old no matter how many times we've seen it. Hello Norfolk explorers π We hope you were able to get out and enjoy the eclipse. We had a picnic at St. Benetβs Abbey and watched it from there (see photo above). If you missed it, the next chance comes on 2 August 2027, but it won't be as big. The UK won't see one this size again until 2030.
