Hello Norfolk explorers 👋 We hope you're having a great week. If social media is anything to go by, it feels like everyone in Norfolk is talking about the poppies right now. We haven't made it there yet, but it's firmly on our weekend plans and we'll be sure to report back. In the meantime, we've included a photo from our visit last year to the Sandringham poppy field. Of course, there's plenty more happening across the county too, from vintage festivals and carnivals to circus performances, live music and great food. Here’s what else is going on across Norfolk this week ⬇️ ✨ What's Happening Around Norfolk This Week?Vintage 60s Festival at Cromer Pier (6 June) Visitors are encouraged to dress up in their best Sixties clobber and enjoy free entertainment, which will include live music at the end of the pier and on the promenade. There will also be vintage stalls selling everything from vinyl records to new and pre-loved clothes and memorabilia in Cromer. Get more information here. Cornucopia (6 June) Set in 18th-century parkland overlooking the lake at Kimberley Hall, this new festival brings together artisan food and drink, live music, a contemporary art exhibition and even aerobatic displays. It’s a relaxed day out with plenty to see and do, and also supports the rural mental health charity YANA. Get more information here. Diss Carnival (7 June) This year's carnival in Diss is celebrating all things games, sport, fun, and friendly competition! The festivities kick off with a large themed procession of walking groups and floats departing from Diss High School and winding through the town to Diss Park. Once there, the 'Fun Day' begins. Get more information here. Party on the Pier (8 June) Cromer Pier is celebrating its 125th anniversary with an afternoon of live entertainment overlooking the sea. Expect music from Bowjangles, Cromer Academy and the Sheringham Shantymen, along with a selection of special performances to mark this milestone in the pier's history. Get more information here. Russells International Circus — Thetford (3 - 6 June) A traditional big-top circus is coming to Melford Common, with an all-human cast performing acrobatics, illusions, comedy and daring stunts. It's a chance to enjoy classic circus entertainment with plenty to keep both children and adults entertained. Get more information here. Save money with a Groupon here Norwich City of Ale (21 May – 22 June)Take part in a month-long celebration of pubs and brewers with 7 different ale trails where you can collect stamps. It all starts with a launch party at the Waterfront in Norwich. Get more information here. Lynn Chadwick at Houghton Hall (2 May - 4 October) Houghton Hall will host a major sculpture exhibition by celebrated British artist Lynn Chadwick CBE. Featuring 30 works from the 1950s to the 1990s, the exhibition includes some of his best-known sculptures as well as rarely seen pieces, displayed across the house and grounds. It will be the UK’s largest exhibition of Chadwick’s work in more than 20 years. Hello Norfolk explorers 👋 We hope you're having a great week. Last weekend was all about chasing poppies for us! It's incredible how many amazing poppy fields there are in Norfolk this year. I think my favourite was the one by Kelling (pictured above), which has a sea view and where we were lucky enough to see a rainbow. The poppy field near Blakeney was also impressive, and there are too many around Courtyard Farm near Ringstead to count. We took so many photos that we're still sharing them...
Hello Norfolk explorers 👋 We really couldn’t have asked for better weather over the Bank Holiday weekend. Ok, maybe it was a little too hot at times, but hopefully you managed to stay cool and enjoy some time outdoors. We spent part of the weekend at the Norwich Games Festival, which was great fun, and also got out for a riverside walk and another visit to Sheringham Park. The rhododendrons are still looking lovely in places, although this recent heat seems to have pushed some areas past...
