We’ve got another Bank Holiday weekend coming up, plus half-term, which means Norfolk is absolutely packed with things to do over the next week.

From medieval battles and LEGO displays to gaming events, live music, funfairs and motoring shows, there’s a huge mix happening across the county for all ages and interests.

It also feels like one of those weeks where you could easily fill the whole half-term without leaving Norfolk.

Norwich City of Ale (21 May – 22 June)

Take part in a month-long celebration of pubs and brewers with 7 different ale trails where you can collect stamps. It all starts with a launch party at the Waterfront in Norwich.

Gray Brothers Fun Fair at Eaton Park (22 -25 May)

Prepare yourself for an exhilarating adventure filled with thrilling rides, delectable candy floss and popcorn, the anticipation of winning exciting prizes, and an electric atmosphere buzzing with excitement in Eaton Park. The Gray Brothers Fun Fair will help keep the kids entertained during half-term.

Norwich Games Festival (23 -30 May)

Norwich Games Festival (NGF) is back at The Forum, featuring an exciting lineup of events, workshops, talks, and free interactive activities for all gaming enthusiasts. Sponsored by Norwich University of the Arts, the festival offers a retro arcade, game jams with industry professionals, immersive VR experiences, and much more.

Medieval Weekend at Norfolk Tank Museum (23 -25 May)

This medieval-themed weekend mixes combat displays, armour and hands-on activities with the museum’s usual military collection. Visitors can watch battles, handle replica weapons and even try on armour, while younger visitors can get involved with safe soft-combat activities and plenty of space to run around.

Norwich Brick Show (23 - 24 May)

This family-friendly event brings together more than 50 LEGO builders from across the UK and Europe, with impressive displays, interactive activities and plenty to keep all ages entertained. Alongside the creations, there will be games, building competitions, sellers, and even a LEGO robot battle arena running throughout the day. Best of all, profits from the show support EACH and Fairy Bricks.

Sandringham Pageant of Motoring (24 May)

The Pageant of Motoring is back in the Royal Parkland. This year’s event promises to showcase the evolution of motoring over the decades with spectacular live music performances, thrilling aerial displays, culinary delights, and a craft and vintage fair for all to enjoy.

Hanse Festival in King’s Lynn (24 May)

The Hanse Festival includes events and activities around King’s Lynn to celebrate the town’s membership of the new Hanse.

Norfolk and Norwich Festival (8 - 24 May)

The Norfolk and Norwich Festival is the biggest event of the year in Norfolk. It's the flagship arts festival for the East of England, and includes an exciting programme of music, theatre, literature, visual arts, circus, dance and free outdoor events.

Norwich Jazz Festival (15 - 24 May)

Norwich Jazz Festival brings ten days of live music across the city each May, celebrating the best in UK and international jazz. Past headliners have included Mammal Hands, Azymuth, and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, with performances spread across a range of city venues.

Lynn Chadwick at Houghton Hall (2 May - 4 October)

Houghton Hall will host a major sculpture exhibition by celebrated British artist Lynn Chadwick CBE. Featuring 30 works from the 1950s to the 1990s, the exhibition includes some of his best-known sculptures as well as rarely seen pieces, displayed across the house and grounds. It will be the UK’s largest exhibition of Chadwick’s work in more than 20 years.

Hello Norfolk explorers 👋 We hope you're having a great week. Last weekend was all about chasing poppies for us! It's incredible how many amazing poppy fields there are in Norfolk this year. I think my favourite was the one by Kelling (pictured above), which has a sea view and where we were lucky enough to see a rainbow. The poppy field near Blakeney was also impressive, and there are too many around Courtyard Farm near Ringstead to count. We took so many photos that we're still sharing them...

Ok, maybe it was a little too hot at times, but hopefully you managed to stay cool and enjoy some time outdoors. We spent part of the weekend at the Norwich Games Festival, which was great fun, and also got out for a riverside walk and another visit to Sheringham Park. The rhododendrons are still looking lovely in places, although this recent heat seems to have pushed some areas past...
